Exploring The Beara With A Leather Backpack

1

Leaving your day-to-day routine and exploring the countryside I find can bring appreciation and perspective. More appreciation for the life and places you generally take for granted, more appreciation for the people who are part of your life, better perspective on the journey you have taken to get to where you are today.

I grew up in the parish of Tuosist on the Beara peninsula in south west Ireland and from where the Beara Beara name came from. I went back to where it all started for me recently and set out into the hills with my camera as I always do.

It's a wild place on the open hills that look out across the Atlantic ocean. It's a far cry from the London office.

Getting lost in the forests is something I used to do as a kid. It's the perfect playground for inventing other worldly kingdoms and imagining adventures. It's nice to reconnect with a place that not only had a big impact on shaping me as I was growing up but to this day is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
